Editorial
on Wedding Fireworks - written by Rob Glover
A fireworks
display to end your wedding day is becoming increasingly popular,
partly because people are looking for something a bit different
these days and partly because it has never been so affordable.
When considering
a fireworks display you need to ask the venue if they are happy
to have them. Some venues will allow you to fire your own fireworks
some will insist that a professional company must fire it. You
must have at least 25M safety distance from where you let the
fireworks off to the audience, this applies to most fireworks
you can buy with some exceptions and all professional displays.
Once you
have confirmed that you can have fireworks at the venue you need
to decide whether you wish to let the fireworks off yourself or
use a professional company. If you choose to let them off yourself
remember to allow time to set them up and someone must stay sober
and take responsibility to fire them. This can be quite a hassle
when your busy organising a hundred and one other things. One
solution is to buy a Display Box, these fireworks produce two
- three minute displays and only have one fuse to light. They
come in sturdy boxes and are easy to set up and produce spectacular
displays. |
To
avoid the hassle of organising the fireworks you can call in a
professional company who will take care of everything. An added
advantage is that they can also fire fireworks not allowed for
public use that can create quite amazing effects. When choosing
a fireworks company make sure that they are prepared to give you
and the venue their insurance details, they will need at least
£5 Million Public Liability. Remember that fireworks are
fundamentally expensive items and the more you are prepared to
spend the better the display you will get.
A few extra
things you can think about when bringing in a professional company
is that you can ask for special items like lance work. Lance work,
also know as fire words or fire writing can write initials or
words in fireworks. Popular for weddings are the two initials
of the married couple separated by a heart. You can also consider
adding outdoor lighting to light the trees and shrubs of the gardens.
Lastly, decide
on a firing time. Its a good idea to discuss it with the venue
as very late times can cause disturbance for local residents.
It is against the Law to let fireworks off after 11pm. One tip
for people wanting to make a fireworks display a surprise is not
to leave the firing time too late in the evening. Quite often
guests leave before the fireworks because they don’t know
they’re happening, especially guests with younger children.
A good time is usually during the break for food/buffet in the
evening. It often gives the venue chance to set the food out while
people are watching the display. |
